Good to be Back

After some crazy real life and finally starting school again, stuff has finally settled down, and it is great to be back (and not minus my girl)...but that's a long story. In any case, it's great to be back, even if we haven't gotten the chance to really interact with everyone yet. Of course, it's a little late our time, so that's probably to be expected. In any case, everything at the market in Tabor Fields and at the bakery is refilled and fresh. So that's good! There's another baker set up at the shop, so I'll have to find out more about that. In any case, look for me where I usually am. It will be nice to get back into the swing of things in Tabor once more.

Oh a new post...

It has been a while since I've posted. RL has been busy, but I just wanted to share some pictures. These are Desi and I. More to come later, when I get to putting them up.

I'll start posting more later, promise. ^_^

Farmer's Market

So, my girl Desi helped me to set up a stall in the Tabor Fields Farmer's Market area for tomorrow. We also got a card from Chance that Franzi made and adjusted pretty much all of our prices for things. We'll see how that goes. I wasn't really aware how the pricing worked, but the notecard definitely helped out with that. Hopefully we don't shock the land of Tabor with the price raises.

Desi busted her butt yesterday helping to gather things. Then she hopped in the water... because apparently she is insane. There is never a dull moment with her and Livette around, that's for sure. Livette finally got her Isle of Tabor tags, so she's learning the system, too. Yay Livette.

I'll update again when more fun things happen.

Demon Barber of Tabor East?

I just wanted to share a bit of RP that I thought was pretty funny. The title of this post will make sense soon.

So, back when we first came to Tabor, there was a very hilarious (or in Chance's case, unfortunate) bit of RP that happened in which Chance's beetle friend was squished by his beetle-squishing Master, Will. Chance was very sad about it, and my girl Desi vowed that she would get him another beetle. Even though she doesn't like them. That was a few weeks ago, when we first arrived in Tabor. This was from earlier today...or tonight, depending on your timezones:

[20:45]  Desdemona Adjani walks up and sets down the load of honey, shifting so as to better hide her sticky mass of hair behind her. "Greetings, Master... Greetings, my Mistress." She shifts again, still careful to hide her hair. "Tal, Chance!"
[20:45]  Will Galuptra smiles as the boy heads off, then looks to her, "Would you care to have a look now? I was on my way to check the coin tins"
[20:46]  Will Galuptra smiles to the girl and nods, "Greetings Desi"
[20:46]  Lorianya Resident smiles. "Greetings, mine. What have you been up t--" Her smile twists into a frown when she notices the girl's hair caked with honey, and she lets out a soft groan. "Desi... Do you mind explaining how that happened?"
[20:46]  Lorianya Resident: Of course. Please lead the way. I don't believe I've been there before...
[20:47]  Desdemona Adjani moves toward Chance and whispers. "I have somthing for you...." She blinks innocently at her Mistress. "How what happened, Mistress?"
[20:47]  Chance Byron looks at the girl and snickers
[20:47]  Lorianya Resident rubs the bridge of her nose. "Were you trying to wash your hair in the honey?"
[20:48]  Desdemona Adjani glances from her Mistress to Chance and holds out her hand. a beetle resting in the palm of it. "It took forever to catch it, but..." She darts a glance to Chance's Master. trying to hide the beetle from him.
[20:48]  Will Galuptra smiles and heads toward the tavern, a glance and chuckle at the girl, "it is directly across the canal", as he heads that way, "Come mine"
[20:48]  Desdemona Adjani: No, Mistress! I will fix it before you get back!
[20:49]  Chance Byron cups the new beetle, smiling happily as he hurries to keep up with hsi master's long legs.

Oh noes! Desi's hair is matted with honey! Buuuut... At least Chance has a new beetle. Oh, but this was not the end of this wonderful fiasco. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you exhibit B, in which I become the demon barber of Tabor East...at least as far as Desi is concerned.

[21:18]  Desdemona Adjani grin and turns. "See, Mistress! I said I'd fix it!" She gestures to the honey-caked braid
[21:19]  Lorianya Resident blinks as she returns, her lips curling into a frown when she sees the honey-caked mess. "That... is what you consider 'fixing' it?"
[21:19]  Desdemona Adjani nods vigorously. "Yes! I fixed it!"
[21:21]  Lorianya Resident nods, her lips pursed into a thin line, and takes a step forward, reaching a hand out in an attempt to run her fingers through the girl's usually soft mane. She grimaces and pulls her hand away, wiping the sticky honey mess on her skirt. "Mhm. And how exactly is it fixed, mine?"
[21:23]  Desdemona Adjani looks at her in utter disbelief and plays a few sticky strands through her fingers. "Well, it... it's braided now so there won't be anymore getting into it.... and it will... come out on its own... eventually?"
[21:24]  Lorianya Resident rubs the bridge of her nose and groans, muttering something under her breath. "It is disgusting." She frowns and gestures to the girl. "Come here, Desi."
[21:25]  Desdemona Adjani looks at her uncertainly and takes a timid step forward. "Yes, Mistress...?"
[21:27]  Lorianya Resident frowns and points to the ground in front of her. "Fetch an ulo from the kitchen and come here."
[21:28]  Desdemona Adjani shakes her head, eyes widening in shock. "An ulo...? What are you going to do....?"
[21:30]  Lorianya Resident narrows her eyes and crosses her arms over her chest. "Do as you were asked, mine. I don't want to have to ask you again."
[21:31]  Desdemona Adjani hesitats, loocking from her Mistress to cupboards and then finally decides to move to fetch the instrument, her steps slow as she realizes all too well what will likely happen next. She grabs the ulo and returns to her Mistress, grudgingly handing it over and still keeping a good distance from her.
[21:34]  Lorianya Resident takes the ulo from the girl and sighs, taking a step forward to narrow the distance between them. Without a word, she takes the girl's messy honey-caked braid in her free hand. "It will grow back. In the meantime, perhaps you will be a bit more careful when doing your chores."
[21:34]  Desdemona Adjani tries to scramble away, her hair in her Mistress' hand holding her back as she shrieks. "No, Mistress, PLEASE! Not my hair!"
[21:36]  Lorianya Resident frowns and holds her ground, hoping that the girl doesn't manage to break anything with this tantrum, and moves the ulo forward quickly, tossing the horrible sticky mass to the ground. "It will grow back." she says, her tone firm.
[21:37]  Desdemona Adjani shouts: NO! WHY?! My HAIR!
[21:39]  Lorianya Resident rubs the bridge of her nose. "It is hair. It will grow back. Perhaps you should learn to take better care of it."
[21:40]  Desdemona Adjani glares at her Mistress, cradling the honey-soaked locks in her arms. "Why?! It was FINE!"
[21:42]  Lorianya Resident frowns, her eyes narrowing and her voice firm. "It was an absolute mess. It looked as though you had -bathed- in honey. It will grow back, and you will learn to be more careful doing your chores. Put that down. Now."
[21:42]  Desdemona Adjani falls to her knees sobbing over the chopped locks of hair.

...Yes. I cut poor Desi's hair. For those of you who haven't seen her helping me in the bakery or otherwise wandering about Tabor, it once hung all the way down to her butt. And now, it doesn't.

My girl Desi with short hair.

On top of everything else, my new girl Livette comes wandering into the bakery during the insanity...

[22:27]  Desdemona Adjani: "It wasn't my fault! It was the bees!"
[22:27]  Lorianya Resident chuckles softly. "The bees?"
[22:27]  Desdemona Adjani pouts, arms crossed over her chest. "YES!"
[22:28]  LivetteVisque Resident notes a blond braid by the table then looks into the bakery and gasps
[22:28]  Lorianya Resident nods. "Uhuh. And how were the bees at fault?"
[22:29]  Desdemona Adjani looks to her sister and frowns. "Don't come too close! She may chop your hair off too!"
[22:29]  LivetteVisque Resident quirks a brow slightly, glancing from Desi to her Mistress.
[22:30]  LivetteVisque Resident: I have obviously missed something...

As you can probably imagine, that went...well. Or not. Not would be the better word, I think. However, things didn't end all bad...although I'm sure Desi may pout for a few days yet.

I think she looks just fine with the short hair, doesn't she?

We'll see how long she stays mad. In any case, it will definitely make for interesting RP.

In Relation to Desi's Post...

Desi posted something about the necessity for gay Gor:

http://desionherknees.blogspot.com/2011/11/necessity-for-gay-gor.html

For those of you who are nay-sayers or just assholes in general when it comes to the topic of gay Gor, I would like to point out this passage. While this doesn't support gay cities per se, as Desi said--gay Gor was born out of a necessity. Because some people are afraid to play with the gays. We don't bite. Well, I do. But I can guarantee that you're not going to catch the gay through that, or osmosis, or otherwise.

Anyway, on to the quote. This is from Magicians. I haven't read it (yet) but when I found this passage I decided I will be reading it next. I've got two passages to share Read them. You know you want to:

"Milo must have exhibited some interest in you, or seemed to exhibit some interest in you," I said, "if only during the period of your seduction, when you were being trapped."

"Yes," she said, "then."

"But after you were in the house as a slave, collared, scantily clad, utterly vulnerable?"

"No, Master," she said.

"He never asked for you to be brought to him?"

"No, Master."

"Why do you think that is?" I asked.

"I am insufficiently beautiful," she said.

"Did he call for other women?" I asked.

"I do not know, Master," she said.

"Did you not see names written on the call boards in the kitchen?"

"No," she said.

"Interesting," I said.

"One of the girls, another one of we three who had been trapped by Milo, claimed to have been with him, but it was proven that she had lied. She had been chained in the stable that night. The house master found out about it and she was whipped, before us all."

"As far as you know, then," I said, "none of the girls of the house were put with Milo."

"As far as I know, not," she said.

"But surely there would be no cause for secrecy about such a matter," I said.

"I would not think so," she said.

"Milo was important in the house," I said. "He is famous. He is of great value to Appanius."

"Certainly, Master," she said.

"It would make sense then," I said, "to suppose that a girl would be sent to him, at least once in a while."

"Perhaps, Master," she said.

"So much is done even for quarry slaves," I said.

"Yes, Master," she said.

"But as far as you know this was never done?"

"Not as far as I know," she said.

"And if it had been done," I said, "it is my speculation that you would have heard of it, such gossip flowing quickly through the corridors of such a house."

"I suppose so," she said.

"If Milo had requested a girl, do you think he would have received one?"

"I would suppose so," she said, puzzled.

"Perhaps he did not request one," I said.

"Master?" she asked.

"Possible Milo does not find women attractive," I said.

*****

And here's where I narrate, just in case we missed something...

OMFG. Did they just come to the conclusion that Milo likes the boys? I think they did. Yep. I'm pretty sure that's what that last sentence is. GASP. The gays. They DID exist! Read a few more books before you put 'no RP with the gays' in your profiles, people. Guess what? Appanius is from Ar. Not some magical gay counter-dimension.

Here's another passage, also from Magicians. This one is kind of sad, but sweet in a way. You'll see what I mean when you read it:

*****

"My Milo, my Milo!" wept Appanius, looking down at the much-beaten slave. "The most beautiful slave in Ar! My beloved slave! My beloved Milo!"

"He has betrayed you," said one of the retainers.

"How could you do it?" asked Appanius. "Have I not been good to you? Have I not been kind? Have you wanted for anything? Have I not given you everything?"

The slave kept his head down. I think he was sick, and I did not much blame him. He had taken a fearful beating. His back and shoulders were covered with welts. I did not think that anything had been broken. I wondered if he had ever been beaten before. Perhaps not. I myself have doubtless been responsible for a few of those blows, but then they had been appropriately administered. His behavior, after all, had contained errors.

"He is an ungrateful slave," said another of the retainers.

"Send him to the fields," said one of the retainers.

"Sell him," said another.

"Make him an example to others," said the first retainer.

"We can fine you a better, Appanius," said another.

"One even more beautiful," said one.

"And one with appropriate dispositions," said another.

"And he, too, if you wish, can be trained as an actor and performer," said another.

Marcus looked at me, puzzled. He did not really follow this conversation. I did not react to his look.
"What shall I do with him?" asked Appanius.

"Let all your slaves learn that they are your slaves," said one of the retainers.

"Speak clearly," said Appanius.

"Rid yourself of him," whispered the fellow.

"Yes," said another.

Appanius looked down at the chained slave.

I now had some understanding of the jealousy of the retainers for the slave. The slave had doubtless enjoyed too much power in the house, too much favor with the master. They were eager to bring him down.

"How?" asked Appanius.

"He has been unfaithful to you," said a retainer.

"He had made a fool of you, with a woman," said another.

This remark seemed to have its effect with Appanius.

"If this gets out, you will be a laughing stock in Ar," said another.

I doubted this. It is natural enough for a male slave to have an eye for female slaves, and it is not unusual for a female slave to occasionally, say, find herself taken advantage of by such a fellow. To be sure, it is much more dangerous for a male slave to accost a female slave than for a free man to do so. Unauthorized uses of female slaves are almost always by free men. They have little, or nothing, to fear, for the girls are only slaves. The masters, if they are concerned about such things, may put the girls in the iron belt, particularly if they are sending them on late errands, or into disreputable neighborhoods.

Appanius seemed to be becoming angry.

I looked at the slave. His hands were manacled closely behind his back. The chains on his ankles would hardly permit him to walk. The chain leash dangled to the floor, where it lay in a rough coil.

"So, Milo," said Appanius, "you would make of me a laughing stock?"

"No, Master," said the slave.

"One can well imagine him laughing about how he betrayed you with a woman," said one of the retainers.

"It will be the whip, and close chains for you, Milo!" said Appanius.

"No," said one of the retainers. "Let him serve as an example to all such slaves as he!"

"Yes!" said another retainer.

"Let it be the eels!" said another.

"Yes!" said the fourth.

"No!" screamed Lavinia. "No!" She leaped to her feet and ran to Milo, to kneel beside him, holding him, weeping. She turned to Appanius. "No, no, please!" she wept. "No! Please!"

I took her by the hair and threw her back, away from Milo, to the floor, where she scrambled to her knees and, tears in her eyes, frantic, regarded us.

Many estates, particularly country homes, have pools in which fish are kept. Some of these pools contain voracious eels, of various sorts, river eels, black eels, the spotted eel, and such, which are Gorean delicacies. Needless to say abound slave, cast into such a pool, will be eaten alive.

I looked closely at Appanius. He was white-faced. As I had suspected, he was not enthusiastic about this proposal.

"It must be the eels," said the first retainer.

"Nothing less will expunge the blot upon your honor," said another.

"What blot?" said Appanius, suddenly, lightly.

The retainers regarded him, speechless.

"What is it to my honor," asked Appanius, "if I have been betrayed by an ungrateful, worthless slave? It is scarcely worth noting."

"Appanius!" said the first retainer.

"Do you wish to buy a slave?" asked Appanius of me, as though lightly. But I saw that he was desperate in this matter. Indeed, I was touched. His problem was a difficult one. He wanted to save both his honor and the life of the slave. As outraged as he might be, as angry, as terribly hurt as he was, even as sensitive of his honor as I supposed he might be, he was trying to save the slave. I was startled by this. Indeed, it seemed he might care for him, truly. That development I had not anticipated. I had thought that things would have worked out much more simply. I had expected him to be outraged with Milo and be ready, in effect, to kill him, at which point I was prepared to intervene, with a princely offer. If he were rational, and the offer was attractive enough, as it could be, as I had a fortune in gold with me, I could obtain the slave. That is the way I had anticipated things would proceed. If Appanius would not sell Milo, then I could simply keep Appanius, and the others, with the exception of Milo, bound and gagged somewhere, say, in the pantry in the back, and use Milo, still the slave of Appanius, to achieve my objective in a slightly different fashion, one then merely involving two steps rather than one. If he would not sell Milo, certainly he would be willing to sell another, one who might, for a time at least, be too dangerous to acknowledge, too dangerous to free, too dangerous to keep.

-----Magicians of Gor, pages 426-428.

Like I said, I need to read this one next. As mentioned, it doesn't give cause for entirely gay cities. That is a necessity born in Second Life because people are assholes. However, the free man in his passage is a well-known man in the great city of AR. Clearly, he was doing a little more than simply admiring Milo's acting abilities, and yet no one is faulting him for his preferences. Just saying.

Feel free to comment. I just wanted to share. ^_^

Sharing the RP Love

Yesterday, despite the sim exploding, I braved the ferry from Tabor Bay to Tabor East to check on the bakery and make sure it didn't explode to. I did the baker thing for a little bit and baked a few pies, and then I ran into a few new friends I'd met in some impromptu roleplay the day before. Franziskus and his boy Endy stopped by the bakery. Endy made hot chocolate and Franzi and I sat and talked for a little while. This part here made me chuckle:

[2011/11/07 16:07]  Lorianya Resident smiles. "You have a very well-behaved boy, Sir."

[2011/11/07 16:08]  Eolla Resident is Offline

[2011/11/07 16:08]  Franziskus Ninetails smiles over the rim of his bow "Yes. Carrot and a stick is the secret"

[2011/11/07 16:09]  Franziskus Ninetails: "Well... or cookies and the whip"

[2011/11/07 16:09]  Franziskus Ninetails: But your kajira is a well-behaved girl too as far as I could see

[2011/11/07 16:09]  Lorianya Resident chuckles. "Yes, she is. Thank you."

[2011/11/07 16:10]  Franziskus Ninetails: By the way... where is she today?

[2011/11/07 16:10]  Franziskus Ninetails: Is she taming the bees again?

[2011/11/07 16:11]  Lorianya Resident chuckles. "I believe she is trying. And she has been determined to find Chance another beetle...but that is another story."

That last comment goes back to when I first arrived in Tabor with my girl Desi. I was having tea with Will, and his boy brought over a beetle. My girls Livette and Desi weren't too fond of the bug, so they made a fuss. Livette came to me that day, new to Gor, so my girl Desi has been teaching her Gorean.

[2011/10/17 17:10]  Chance Byron whispers to the beetle "Hello beetle. I am your new master"

[2011/10/17 17:10]  Will Galuptra catches the whisper and sighs, pretending not to have heard

[2011/10/17 17:10]  SkinTrader Greyskin listens to hear if he will need one cup or two

[2011/10/17 17:11]  Lorianya Resident watches Chance for a moment and glances up to Will, offering a small nod. "Tea sounds lovely. Thank you." She turns to Livette and thinks a moment, nodding to the girl. "You...will need an exam soon." she says, more to herself than to the others.

[2011/10/17 17:11]  Chance Byron nudges the beetle along "Go on. Walk a little I'm not going to hurt you. " he pokes it again "You will find your nature"

[2011/10/17 17:12]  LivetteVisque Resident notices her Mistress looking at her and glances at Desi, "What was that...?"

[2011/10/17 17:13]  SkinTrader Greyskin smiles, "Two cups of tea then, as you wish." Stands rolling his shoulders back and heads towards the serving area, his thoughts already on the task at hand despite his brother's mumblings

[2011/10/17 17:13]  Will Galuptra closes his eyes and sighs, thinking he may go squash the bug

[2011/10/17 17:13]  Desdemona Adjani moves closer to Livette, but with her eyes on Chance, curiosity taking over as she tries to figure out what he would possibly want with a bug. "She says you'll need an exam. I just had mine..." She rubs the bandage over her nose gently. "It wasn't so bad, really..."

[2011/10/17 17:14]  Chance Byron lays on his belly, watching the beetle struggle "THis is all part of it. you will fight it, but I will help you"

[2011/10/17 17:15]  LivetteVisque Resident eyes widen slightly, "An exam? But.. I am fine..." Frowns at the bandage over her sister's nose, "Yes... I see it wasn't so bad for you..."

[2011/10/17 17:15]  Will Galuptra groans and stands, moving quickly and smashes the bug with his boot, "have you no chores left boy?"

[2011/10/17 17:16]  Chance Byron jumps back then howls "That was minE! He was a PET!

...Okay. So Will squished the bug. Will is the beetle-squisher, and my girl is now determined to bring him a new beetle...despite the fact that she doesn't like to be near the things. This is the part where I sit back with a nice cup of tea and giggle at the ensuing hilarity, yes? Yes. Of course.

I just wanted to share this with everyone. I've bumped into Franzi and his boys River and Endy once before. River wasn't there yesterday, but they are a lovely bunch and very fun to roleplay with. Have I mentioned how much I love Tabor so far? I've had so much fun with my girls and everyone I've met. Lots of fun, great people--what's not to love?

Eureka. I have conquered the NLS system!

Hear ye, hear ye...

I have finally figured out the NLS system. So...being the NLS baker in Tabor is going to be a lot easier from now on. This is mostly thanks to others around Tabor who have helped me and my girl Desi get used to the system. Thanks to Will, Chance, Malex, Mike, and anyone else who helped me and Desi to conquer the NLS system.

Also, I just wanted to say that we have been in Tabor for a few weeks so far. Before we decided to come in to Tabor to roleplay, myself and Desi read through the rules and tried to come into the city to observe others that lived there. Gay Gor tends to have a lot of drama...but so does the rest of Second Life Gor. However, so far, none of that has happened in Tabor. We have been very comfortable there, and everyone has been very welcoming to us. It makes the urge to roleplay a lot stronger when you feel welcome somewhere, and Tabor has really done that for me.

So yay for the topic of this post, and yay for Tabor. So far, I'm having a blast.

Is anyone else excited about this Confederation of Gor thing?
